As you can see at the fuel pump and on your latest electric bill, energy prices have skyrocketed. We’ve been experiencing unprecedented fuel price increases in 2022. And, it may seem there’s nothing you can do about it. Fortunately, there’s a permanent solution. As such, see how solar panels save money. Then, uncover why solar panels reduce pollution.

Using Texas as an example, utility rate increases there represent an $80 per month increase for a family using 1,000 kWh of electricity. It’s not just happening in Texas. Electricity rates are increasing everywhere. On top of that, pollution is still a major problem in every city around the world.

Now, continue reading to uncover how solar panels save money each and every month. Then, see how you can do your part to help reduce pollution in your town.

Utility rates have increased exponentially

Looking how electricity prices have risen over the last 30 years, you’ll find that they’ve increased by around 5%. But in 2022, some utility companies are increasing their rates by over 50%. That’s an extreme increase that must be defeated.

For another reason to defeat these extreme electrical rate increases, look at how the laws have been manipulated by the utility companies. In the past, utility companies were prevented from increasing rates by more than four to six percent. But recently, they’ve been given leeway by the U.S. government.

Now, check out the following video to see some first-hand knowledge and experience with this issue.

In the video, Eric Martineau reveals his personal experience with rising electricity prices from various states around the United States. And, he present actual numbers and historical data to back up his claims. He’s the founder of Just Get Solar™ and he exactly how solar panels save money.

Bloomberg blames increases on the following:

“…a combination of tight supplies of natural gas and coal, an unrelenting drought in the Western US, and a nationwide forecast for extreme heat.”

Rate increases according to the New York Times:

“Rates have jumped because of a surge in natural gas prices and could keep rising rapidly for years as utilities invest in electric grids.”

The BBC says this about the increases:

“Households are facing a steep increase in their energy prices due to supply and demand on the global wholesale market.”

What the U.S. government is saying about these increases:

According to the EIA or the U.S. Energy Information Administration:

“The largest increases in U.S. electricity generation in the next two years are likely to come from renewable energy sources, driven by expanded generating capacity from these sources.”

Solar panels save money in two options

When keeping your grid connection and using a process called “net metering,” your solar system is a hybrid solar system. But, a solar-energy household completely disconnected from the grid is an off-grid solar system. And, they both prove how solar panels save money.

The distinguishing factor between the two primary solar system design options is your power grid connection. To explain, when not connected to the grid, your solar system design will be an off-grid solar system. If you plan to remain connected to your power grid, your solar system design will be a hybrid solar system. Hybrid solar systems are sometimes called a grid-tie solar system.

Another distinguishing factor between off-grid and grid-tie solar systems is power storage. Generally speaking, hybrid solar systems store excess power within the grid in the form of a credit. Then, you use that credit when your solar panels are not generating power at night.

Off-grid solar systems use a backup solar battery bank to store excess power generated during the day. Also, off-grid solar systems usually include a backup power generator. Generators provide power when during long periods of time without sunshine.

Solar panels reduces pollution

Clean air and clean water are two things we Americans take for granted. But of course, we shouldn’t. In many cities around the nation, the air is highly polluted and the tap water is full of contaminants. As such, let’s see how pollution is measured.

There are three primary factors most organizations use to measure pollution. First is air pollution, which refers to the release of pollutants into the air. In the US, the Clean Air Act, established in 1970, authorizes the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) to regulate the emissions of these harmful air pollutants.

Causing air pollution, power plants emit harmful air pollutants, including mercury, non-mercury metallic toxics, acid gases, and organic air toxics such as dioxin. As such, they’re currently the dominant emitters of mercury, acid gases, and many toxic metals in the United States, as presented by the EPA.

Next are the tap water contaminants. Steam electric plants use fossil fuels or nuclear reactions to heat water in boilers to generate steam and to drive turbines connected to electric generators. They generate wastewater with chemical pollutants, coal piles, yard and floor drainage, and other miscellaneous wastes.

Finally, the ozone layer is getting damaged. According to the EPA, the ozone layer protects life from the sun’s harmful radiation. Also, most atmospheric ozone is concentrated in a layer in the stratosphere, about nine to 18 miles above the Earth’s surface. Power plants have caused damage to this ozone layer shield above us.

How solar helps the power grid

Critics of solar power say that switching to renewable energy creates unstable electrical grids. Fortunately, new studies from schools like Stanford University conclude differently. To elaborate, those problems can be solved in over 100 countries that were examined.

Power grid blackouts can be avoided and cost can be minimal using mostly existing technologies. These studies reveal that we don’t need new innovation to solve these electrical grid problems that critics forecast.

By producing electricity from clean, renewable sources and storing that electricity along with shifting the time of some electricity use, we can create safe, cheap and reliable energy everywhere. The biggest reason for the cost reduction is that a clean, renewable energy system uses much less energy than a combustion-based energy system. And, combustion-based systems pollute as explained earlier.

Worldwide, the energy that people actually use goes down by over 56 percent with an all-electric system powered by clean, renewable sources. To explain this, there are five reasons for this energy reduction:

A renewable energy power system also reduces the cost per unit energy by another 12 percent on average. That results in over 60 percent lower annual energy cost worldwide. In addition to that are the health and climate cost savings.

Don’t try to install solar panels alone

Installing a complete solar system is like installing a circuit breaker unit along with other major electrical systems. One primary component of a solar system is the solar power inverter, which powers your entire home. That means, safety and reliability is no different between the two.

You must be trained, experienced and certified to install a solar system. In other words, solar installation is not a DIY project. In fact, solar component installation and wiring requires an electrician and a construction contractor to do it right.

The ability to perform construction is also necessary to install a solar system. As an example, solar panel arrays are typically secured to the top of existing structures. That means, the physical connections must be strong and reliable. Additionally, structures are sometimes built from the ground up to carry the load of your solar panel arrays sufficiently. Therefore, if you’re not familiar with construction, do not attempt solar installation.
